Leaving no one behind (Dropouts, NEETs)
“One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world.” (Malala)
Education is a fundamental human right. Today, more than 70 million children of primary education age are not in school, and nearly 760 million adults are illiterate (humanium.org). Education for all is the basis not only for a fairer access to the job market, but also for the full development of a human being. Nobody should be left behind: dropouts should be re-integrated in the schooling system, and NEETs (Not in Employment, Education or Training) should be re-engaged.
The challenge of dropouts continues to be a major concern of Roots and Wings project.
Based on the discussion of participants, there are two routes in which young people can be part of the solution against school dropouts: introducing new methodologies of learning that capitalize on multiple intelligence, provoking student desire to learn and be in school, and, volunteering… guiding, tutoring, being with the students.
